InTroduction
The human race has caused destruction to the environment to the point where species are becoming extinct, there is a hole in the ozone layer causing global warming, and deforestation is occurring every hour creating less oxygen. These are just a couple of examples of environmental loss that the earth has experienced from humans. People are starting to fight back in an effort to save the environment. Since the mid twentieth century, there are people who have radicalized this idea under Ecoterrorism. An Eco Terrorist is someone who causes damage to companies, institutions, organizations, and governments that they believe damage or alter the environment (Nilson, Burke). Although Eco Terrorists are fighting against injustice in the environment, many of the strategies used by Eco Terrorists do more harm than good. From 1995-2005, two Eco Terrorist groups have caused 110 million dollars in damage (Deshpande, pg. 2). The goal of Eco Terrorists organizations is to protect the environment from harmful companies, institutions, and governments. Instead of using words as a protest, Eco Terrorists use fire to fight fire. If Eco Terrorists would use a more collaborative methodology of communicating the issue and finding a solution, they would be more successful in creating a just environment.
